Barbie Doll Cake in Lahore: How It Is Made and What It Costs
Short answer
A Barbie doll cake in Lahore costs Rs 9,000–13,000 for the classic 3 lb design, where the cake forms the skirt and a doll forms the torso. A printed Barbie design on a 2 lb cake costs Rs 3,500–5,000, and a pink Barbie-themed cake with modelled details Rs 5,000–8,000. Doll cakes need five to seven days.
The Barbie doll cake is a construction rather than a theme: the cake is carved into a ball gown, and a doll stands in the middle so the cake becomes her skirt. It is one of the most competed-for children's cakes in Lahore because the result is genuinely spectacular, and because it is easy to do badly.
How it is built
The skirt is several layers of sponge stacked and carved into a dome, crumb-coated, then covered in fondant or piped in buttercream ruffles. The doll is a real doll with her legs wrapped in food-safe film, set down through the centre. Her bodice is then piped or covered to match the skirt so the two read as one dress.
Is the doll included?
Practice varies between bakeries, so ask. Some include a new doll in the price and some ask you to supply one. It matters more than it sounds, because it decides whether the birthday girl keeps her doll afterwards, which children often care about more than the cake. Her hair is not edible and should be tied up before cutting.
Price by version
| Version | Size | Price |
|---|---|---|
| Printed Barbie design | 2 lb | Rs 3,500 – 5,000 |
| Pink Barbie theme with modelled details | 2 lb | Rs 5,000 – 8,000 |
| Classic doll cake, the cake as her skirt | 3 lb | Rs 9,000 – 13,000 |
How many it serves
A doll cake gives fewer neat slices than its weight suggests, because the dome is tall and narrow at the top: a 3 lb doll cake serves roughly 20–25, against 25–35 for a flat 3 lb cake. For a big party, order a plain sheet cake in the same flavour to cut alongside it.
Barbie or princess?
A doll cake can be any character in a gown. Barbie usually means pink, a modern dress and her logo; a princess usually means a specific film character and a fuller skirt. If she is torn between the two, our princess cake guide covers the castle, tiara and character options.
Lead time
Doll cakes need five to seven days, because the carved skirt has to chill firm before it can be covered. A printed Barbie design takes one to two days.
